Alexandra Salerno
Therapist & Consultant, LPC, NCC

About me
From a young age, I was called "the listener" in my family. I became intrigued with how others chose their words and actions. Today, I am still that listener and have a passion for mental health and consulting to provide quality care to clients.

As a professional, I enjoy collaborating to think outside of the box, invent refreshing ideas, and create unique approaches. I aim to get my clients back into their lives in a way that is fulfilling. I take a warm, collaborative approach in my work.

While pursuing my master's degree at the University of Pittsburgh, I completed my clinical internship at the UPMC Center for Eating Disorders. While there, I became fascinated with the mind-body connection. Coming from a background in dance and classical ballet, having the ability to work on the mental aspects and observe the physical changes is what drew me towards this field.

Currently, I am a mental health counselor for Pitt Athletics, as well as an outpatient therapist at Sweetwater Behavioral Health & Wellness, PC. More recently, I was the program supervisor for the UPMC Center for Eating Disorders, outpatient programs and worked with the clinic in a variety of facets from 2017. I specialize in eating disorders, and enjoy working with a range of clients (adolescents to adults). In addition to this speciality, I am also a part-time consultant at KPEX Consulting, where I support individual athletes (particularly dancers), in building skills to enhance sport performance, build confidence, cope with failure and return to sport after an injury.

Aside from my clinical work, I am a dancer and have held a professional career performing locally and internationally. When I'm not with clients, you can find me enjoying an iced vanilla latté, watching documentaries with my two pomsky pups (Bella Blú & Bruno), or skiing on the slopes.
